Lines & Wrinkles

As we age, our body’s stores of collagen and elastin (the essential building blocks for support and elasticity of our skin) are depleted and as a result, our skin becomes thinner and wrinkles appear.

The most common facial areas to develop wrinkles when ageing include:

  • The eye area: Forming what are commonly referred to as ‘crow’s feet’ and are often one of the first signs of ageing. The skin in this area is thin, even in the young, so it is often more affected by the loss of collagen and elastin during the ageing process.
  • The forehead: These wrinkles usually develop as a result of repeated contraction of the frontalis muscle which is responsible to raising and lowering of the eyebrows.
  • Between the eyebrows/frown lines: They are known as glabellar lines or ‘11 lines’. Repeated small contractions of the facial muscles which occur when frowning, smiling and squinting contribute the development of wrinkles in this area. These can contribute to a person looking cross or angry outwardly without meaning to.

Treatments which can help with this concern include:

  • Topical skincare
  • Chemical peels
  • Botulinum toxin
  • Medical microneedling
  • Morpheus 8
  • Skin bio-stimulators
  • Dermal fillers
