PMS & PMDD Consultations

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) describes the emotional and physical symptoms related to periods that many women experience. For some women, these symptoms can be severe and debilitating, interfering with daily life including work and relationships. When symptoms are very severe, this might be indicative of Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) which can be detrimental to overall wellbeing. Sadly PMS and PMDD can be poorly recognised by many doctors. Some women can feel like their symptoms are not taken seriously and current options for treatment are not offered.

At The Bronte Clinic we take these debilitating conditions seriously. There are many treatment options which can help with the symptoms of PMS and PMDD, such as lifestyle modifications, supplements and hormonal treatments.

What does the Bronte PMS/PMDD consultation involve?…

During your 45 minute consultation, we will listen and discuss your concerns and your symptoms to understand the impact they have. We will also rule out any other conditions that can mimic PMS.

It may be necessary to perform some hormone blood tests, depending on your symptoms.

It is often helpful if, prior to your consultation, you can keep a daily symptom and period diary. This is crucial in aiding diagnosis and guiding treatment.

Once diagnosis has been established, we can discuss  treatment options and make an individualised plan that works for you.
